Ismailis Praying 3 times a day vs. 5 times?

Again just looking for where I can find an explanation of this as well.

I was asked but didn't have an answer as to why we only pray 3 times a day vs. those who pray 5.

Thanks :)

I'm trying to look for a good explanation of Pir and Imam and tried the search feature as well but was unable to find it.

I just saw the movie and must say it's an amazing theory. The movie is not one bit "against" Jesus Christ. It is rather a conspiracy theory, simple ficton. Those who choose to believe it may, and those who choose not to, may do so as well. It's definitely something to think about, regardle...

Quick questions:

How many wives did Price Aly Khan have at one time?

Also how many wives did Mowlana Sultan Mohammed Shah have at one time?

Thanks

On a religious view. Lets say... anything that goes against religion (God) is bad, right? Okay and similarily Satan opposes God (Evil Vs. Good or Good Vs. Evil). The way I see it is being Gay is Satanic. I think it's a sense or form of being Evil. Clearly if you are going against religion and God, i...

Shams I agree with you on certain points. However, the part of doing things behind closed doors is also what I am speaking about. There are gay people all over. Whether they decide to hold hands in public, or kiss, or confess they are gay, or whether it be the news making headlines about gay marria...

kmaherali If that is the case, then it is a direct contradiction to his farmans. I am writing as an Ismaili who happens to be gay. I can tell you it is not a choice nor is it a lust. Why would we endure all the ridicules and hostily towards us if we made this a choice? Some of the prominent scientists, artist and philosophers of the past were gays. There are many wonderful men ...

I would think a politician's vote should not reflect on his or her religious views. There should be a separation of church and power . I would beg to differ here. Simply because Islam is not like Christianity where church and state are separated. We are to live within the ethics of Islam and with o...

Please excuse me for being a bit blunt, but I believe: Gay marriages and being gay is wrong - Period. I personally feel if God wanted people to be gay, it would have been maybe Adam and Steve, not Adam and Eve. It's fairly simple. Not to mention two gay people cannot reproduce, whether they are both...

The Jamatkhana in Dubai is in Deira. I forget the address. But I am sure if you ask the Admin of this site, he can help you. If not, try asking the Mukhi of your jamatkhana, and he will request information from the Tariqa board or council. The JK there is not the new one, it's simply in a small buil...

I think it makes sense on many levels. Especially when "Pir" is referred to as a title. The word "Pir" has many meanings, in several languages. Aside from that, I don't think one who is appointed the title of "Pir" is/was the Imam Mustawda, which are the "Pirs"...

Perhaps the world "Pir" here is different from the Pir that comes from "Ahl-e-Bayt". I would think so.

About Bohras, I ws in Cairo recently and went to visit the Mowlana al-Hakim MOsque . It is now under the control of Bohras from India who have renovated it. At 6 pm, lots of Bohras [men and women] came in white dress, it was a special feeling to listen to all those people speaking Gujrati in Cairo....

ShamsB. I think we should start a new thread on this topic. Giving "Bayat" to the Imam isn't something that has retained its value. Today most if not all Ismailis give Bayat to the Imam via a Mukhi or what not right at birth, correct? I can guarantee that not even 10% of the younger genera...

Bohra or Druze Mosque in Vancouver?

YAM,

Out of curiousity, does anyone know if there are any Bohra (Vohra) or Druze mosques in Vancouver?... I would assume these two are the ones closest to us Ismailis and would be curious to know how they practice in their mosque or whatever they might call it.

Thanks!

Hazar Imam's hand actions during deedar

As someone else mentioned on this forum (in another thread, but without a reply). This is indeed an interesting observation and I was wondering if anyone...
