What is the importance of this system in Ismaili tradition?

I think somebody must have made some research about the geographic distribution of Ismaili settlements in the world. But I can imagine that these researchs are held secret for the security of the Ismaili community.

There are some written sources attributed to Imam Jafar al-Sadiq in Orthodox Twelver Shi'ism (Jafariyyah). But I do not know about Ismaili sources attributed to Imam Jafar al-Sadiq.

But I have heard of a book attributed to Imam Jafar al-Sadiq, where he reveals very deep and secret esoteric ...
