As per my understanding, Imam should be one at a time; there cannot be two Imams simultaneously.

Hazarat Abu Talib was Imam before Hazarat Ali (AS). However, I read some verses from Momin Chetamani, as shared above, and some verses clearly state that Hazarat Ali was born as an Imam.
