At the invitation of the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Mawlana Hazar Imam will undertake an official visit to the country from 1-4 December, in conjunction with which he will meet with the Jamat under the jurisdiction of the Ismaili Council for Portugal.

To be able to focus his attention on the Jamat in this jurisdiction, Hazar Imam does not wish members of the Jamat from other parts of the world to travel to Portugal during his visit.

My dear President and Members,
I am pleased to inform my Jamat that having received an invitation from the President of Portugal, I will undertake an official visit to the country in December.

In conjunction with this visit, I will meet with my Jamat under the jurisdiction of the Council for Portugal.

In keeping with the principle I had conveyed in advance of this cycle of my visits, I do not wish my spiritual children from other countries to travel to Portugal during my visit there. I hope my Jamat will maintain discipline and restraint in this matter.

I send my warmest and most affectionate loving blessings to all my spiritual children of my Canada Jamat. You are constantly in my heart, in my thoughts, and in my prayers.

Mawlana Hazar Imam will be in Portugal from December 1st to 4th, 2025, during which time he will visit the Jamat of Portugal and Spain. As more details are confirmed, the Jamat will be informed through announcements on the Jamatkhanas, The Ismaili app, the WhatsApp channel, and The Ismaili Portugal social media.

ITREB is pleased to announce that auditions will be held for reciters of Ginans, Qasidas, Zikr Tasbih, recitations of Qur'an Ayats, and readings in English and Portuguese, for the Mulaqat with our beloved 50th Imam.

All information regarding the audition process for reciters, before and during the Didar and Youth Mulaqat, taking place in early December, will be shared with the Jamat soon. Stay tuned!

Volunteer Registry

As part of Mawlana Hazar Imam's visit to Portugal, we invite all volunteers willing to offer their time, energy, and dedication to make this visit a historic moment for our Jamat.

We encourage all volunteers — uniformed, non-uniformed, and multifaith family members — to express their interest in participating in this event as volunteers.

Upon completing your registration for Didar http://iiportugal.org/, you will have the opportunity to express your interest in volunteering and select up to three areas in which you would like to collaborate.

Volunteer opportunities will be available in the days leading up to the visit, on the day of the visit itself, and after the visit. The identified areas are as follows:

Access and Registration

Celebrations (Entertainment)

Communication and Graphic Design + Audiovisual

Food and Beverages

Health, Childcare and Special Needs

Prayer Room

Footwear and Coat Rack

Hygiene and Maintenance

Transportation and Assembly of Materials

Diversity and Multifaith

Transportation and Accommodation

Location, Security and Flow


After you express your interest, the team will seek to find the best possible match between the event's needs and the areas of interest you indicated.

Although every effort is being made to integrate registered volunteers, not all can be assigned, given the expected high number of demonstrations.

Once you are assigned to a team, you will be contacted with information about your placement. Registration for volunteering ends on November 16, 2025.

Together we walk towards Unity

The preparation for a Didar should encompass all aspects of our lives. Spirit, heart, but also the body. As a celebration and in the spirit of community, we invite all of Jamat to participate in the Walk & Run. Together we walk towards Unity!



It's next Sunday, November 16th, that we'll meet at Cidade Universitária for the Walk & Run.

What will happen?

A race, in competition format, taking place on the athletics track:

5 KM - M/F
10 KM - M/F
And with medals for the best in their respective categories.

We invite all athletes to challenge themselves and test their limits!

A large walk with 2 different routes - one short and one long - around the venue: The categories are:

1KM
2KM
6KM
10KM

Events start at 10am, but check-in starts at 9:30am to receive your t-shirt. Join us and come spend some time in contact with nature and in community.
