Sustainability: Our commitment and actions

Sustainability means meeting today’s needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs (United Nations, 1987). It calls for a careful balance between environmental, social, and economic considerations, and is about making thoughtful choices that support people and the planet, not only for today but for the future.

Sustainability is also a core Islamic value, deeply rooted in the teachings of the Quran and reinforced by Mawlana Hazar Imam’s guidance on environmental stewardship. These teachings emphasise humanity’s role as Khalifah (stewards) of the Earth, entrusted with its care and preservation for generations to come.

At the Aga Khan Award for Architecture Presentation Ceremony in Kazan in 2019, Mawlana Shah Karim Shah explained this further:

“Both the natural world and the world of human capacities are divine gifts, but it is tempting sometimes to embrace one without thinking much about the other,” he said. “The Holy Qur’an asks Muslims not to be passive recipients of our Natural Habitat but instead to be faithful stewards of the divine creation.”

In this spirit, we have made a collective commitment to design and deliver a Didar that is as sustainable as possible.

This commitment is closely aligned with the UK Didar themes of kindness and gratitude. Kindness towards one another extends to kindness towards the world we share, while gratitude encourages us to value resources, avoid excess, and act with care. Through this lens, sustainability becomes an expression of our faith, our values, and our respect for creation.

Through this effort, we hope to leave a positive and lasting legacy by raising awareness of the choices the Jamat can make to adopt more sustainable lifestyles. Our aim is to inspire long-term behaviour change that supports sustainable practices.

How are we ensuring the Didar (and associated events) will be sustainable?

The leadership and organising teams have collectively committed to a Sustainability Charter. This charter takes a holistic approach to sustainability, encompassing environmental, social and economic considerations, whilst also committing to long-term behaviour change and transparency and accountability.
The two main objectives are to:

- Consciously minimise the environmental footprint of the event and associated activities.
- Encourage long-term behaviour change and innovation.

To help deliver these objectives, the following aims have been set:

- Reduce the procurement of new items wherever possible, in favour of hired items where possible we can, and prioritising reusable and recyclable materials.
- Adopt a near zero-landfill policy, with efforts to ensure that items can be re-used post-Didar, and with clear waste and recycling facilities provided at venues.
- Minimise single-use materials or items, opting for sustainable alternatives where possible.
- Ensure efficient energy use, including within venues, and opt for low-carbon options where available.
- Select sustainable suppliers where possible.

How can you help to ensure the Didar is as sustainable as possible?

Sustainability is a shared responsibility, and everyone has a part to play. Individual actions both in the lead up to and during the Didar - such as travel choices, waste disposal, and avoiding unnecessary consumption - can collectively make a significant difference. You can:

- Avoid single-use disposables and waste by bringing reusable water bottles to the Didar. There will be plenty of water refill stations for you to fill your water bottles.
- Choose low-carbon travel options such as organised low emission coaches, public transport, car-pooling, walking, or cycling, in line with our sustainability commitments.
- Avoid waste and excess, for example by taking only what you will eat to minimise food waste, and by considering whether an existing outfit can be re-worn or repurposed rather than purchasing something new for the event.
- Minimise waste and correctly sort it at the venues using the designated recycling bins.
- Return items at the end of the Didar to enable them to be reused at future events.
- Keep shared spaces clean and take all personal items with you when you leave.
- Practice patience and kindness: Sustainability also means being inclusive, respectful, and considerate of others during the event.
- Encourage others by setting a good example and challenging unkind and unsustainable behaviour.

How can sustainable actions count as acts of kindness to the Environment?

As part of the Gratitude to Kindness theme, we invite the Jamat to extend kindness towards the environment through simple, everyday actions. These acts may be one-off or ongoing, before, during, or after the Didar, and each reflects gratitude for the resources we share.

Examples of Kindness to the Environment include:

- I chose walking, cycling, or public transport when possible.
- I use reusable bottles, bags, or containers.
- I recycle waste properly.
- Out of gratitude for what I already have, I re-wear or repurpose my outfit for the Didar.
- I save water by turning off taps.
- I avoid wasting food.

These small actions, when taken together, become powerful expressions of gratitude, responsibility, and kindness in action.

The Jamat is encouraged to log acts of kindness - including those towards the environment - via iiuk.org or the Ismaili App (Click More > Gratitude to Kindness).

If thousands of us embrace more sustainable actions, the collective impact will reach far beyond the event. It will reflect a shift in mindset that we can carry into our homes and daily lives.

Together, through kindness, gratitude, and conscious action, let us help shape that future.

We are counting on you - every action matters.

Primary Week 3: Learning from Mawlana Hazar Imam’s teachings

Image

Welcome! Today, Nura wants to help you discover how the Imam guides us through his teachings, called Farmans.

What is a Farman?

Farman is a Persian term meaning “command,” “authority,” “will,” or “permission.” For Shia Ismaili Muslims, it refers to guidance given by the Imam-of-the-Time to his followers.
(source: https://www.instagram.com/p/DL7TEx3tGES/?hl=en)

Nura was growing braver every day. After meeting the big white bird with the lantern, she followed the glowing path through the forest. The lantern showed her where to step, but soon Nura noticed something new: Feathers. Do you want to know what the feathers taught her?

Read the story “Nura and the feathers of wisdom” in the Primary Light My Way booklet (pg. 26) (available here https://www.iiuk.org/owncloud/index.php ... 6R6etCqTBn? ).

Nura’s Kindness Activity

Stretch out your arms like wings.

Imagine you are Nura. Each time you make a kind or honest choice, your wings grow stronger.

Complete Week 3: Activity 2 and 3 in the Light My Way booklet

Feathers of wisdom taught Nura to be kind, brave and thoughtful in whatever she did.

Similarly, the Farmans of Mawlana Hazar Imam are like feathers of wisdom for us, which guide us to be kind, caring and stay on the right path.

Think about it

Read and reflect on a few Farmans of Mawlana Hazar Imam from the printed Farman books or read Farmans of Mawlana Shah Karim (may peace be upon him) from Primary 1, Book 5 pages 20-22.

What good choices can I make every day?

Note down your reflections in the LMW booklet

Parents: Remember to write a letter to your child(ren) in the Light My Way booklet on page 46

Secondary Week 3: The Light That Shines My Way

Image

Preparing for Didar begins with becoming aware of the permanent spiritual bond between the Imam and the murid, a bond experienced through light, feeling, and reflection.

Welcome Back

Find a quiet spot. Take one slow breath in… and out.

Think about this: Have you ever felt supported or cared for, even when someone wasn’t physically with you?

Write or think:

- One word that describes how that support felt

Explore

Read the phrase below:
Permanent Spiritual Bond

Break it down:

- Permanent – something that does not end
- Spiritual – something felt in the heart, not seen
- Bond – a strong connection

Think about it:

- Can something be real even if you can’t see it?
- How might this describe the relationship between the Imam and a murid?

Optional writing (in your Light My Way booklet, using the space provided to reflect - available here https://www.iiuk.org/owncloud/index.php ... 2?path=%2F):

- One sentence: “A permanent spiritual bond means…”

Engage

Read slowly:
“Your Imam is with you. Wherever you are, your Imam is with you.”

Choose ONE way to respond:

- Write one word that matches how this makes you feel
- OR draw a simple symbol or shape
- OR choose a colour that fits the feeling

There is no right or wrong answer.

Reflect

Finish this sentence:
“To get ready for Didar, my heart might need more ______.”

Close your eyes for a moment and sit with that thought.

Additional Games:

1. Wordsearch

2. Match It Up: Word → Meaning
Instructions: Match the word from Column A with its meanings in Column B

Arrangements for Children

If you’re a parent of young children, here are a few simple tips to help you plan ahead for the day: Plan ahead for your childcare needs for Didar!

What to pack:

Quiet toys and activities, for example, e.g. stickers, colouring, books
Milk and additional snacks - children’s meals will be available for lunch, menus and allergen information will be shared in advance. If your child has specific allergies, we encourage you to bring your own food
Required medication

Before leaving home

Make sure you clearly label your pram, carrier or car seat
Write your child’s name and your contact details on a wristband for your child
Consider putting an AirTag on your child as these are allowed through security.

To help you get around:

Buggies are allowed past security but not in the Didar Hall
Buggies can be stored in the designated buggy parks during Didar
Carriers and car seats can be taken into the Didar Hall

Little Village for children aged 0-5

There will be space for nursing and baby changing, with spring water and water heating facilities available
Soft play and activities will be available for children until 30 minutes before Intezar and post-Didar

Inter-Faith Meeting is for adults only

Please arrange childcare with family or friends following Didar if you are attending the inter-faith meeting
Pre-agree a meeting point post the inter-faith meeting

During the Didar

Please try and stay in the Didar Hall for as much as you can - a little bit of noise and movement is ok!
If you need to nurse, Little Village will be available to access, but will be unmanned

In case you and your child lose each other:

Agree a meeting point in advance
Remind your child to ask volunteers for help
Point out the information desks to your child on arrival where volunteers will be able to assist if they get lost.

Health and Accessibility Needs

We have made every reasonable effort to accommodate a wide range of needs and to make attendance as inclusive as possible. However, it may not be possible to meet every individual requirement. Please speak to a volunteer on the day if you have any concerns, and they will do their best to support you where possible.

Please note: Support on the day will be based on the information provided during registration and what can be reasonably accommodated at the venue.

Key Information

Seating and Chair Allocation

There are eight chair zones, each marked by a colour and letter. Chairs are not reserved in advance. Murids may choose a zone and select from available chairs on arrival.

If you wish to sit with family members, please enter the chair zone together. Once a chair is allocated, it is secured for the rest of the day using a numbered ticket. You may leave the Didar Hall and return to the same seat later.

Some seating areas are designated for hearing loop users, visual needs, high needs or dementia, and aisle seating (recommended for those using walkers). Chairs do not have armrests or high backs.

Wheelchair users follow the same process, and allocated wheelchair spaces are also secured for the day.

Higher Needs Seating

Higher Needs seating is located in Zones F (Purple) and G (Orange). These areas have a higher ratio of volunteers, dementia champions, and are closer to toilets.

Volunteers can provide general assistance but cannot provide personal or specialist care, including toileting, medication administration, lifting, or one-to-one support. If this level of support is required, please attend with a carer.

Accessibility Support Available on the Day

- Hearing loop: Zone G (Orange), with space for one family member
- Visual needs: Limited seating closer to screens in Zone A (Red); you may choose any area with the best screen access
- BSL interpretation: Designated area near the Medical Bay
- Wheelchair transfers: Available at the East and West entrances; short waiting times may occur.

A limited number of wheelchairs are available inside the Didar Hall. Please bring walking sticks or walkers where possible. Wheelchair parking is available on the boulevard and should be clearly labelled.

Non-Eligible Carers

Non-eligible carers providing disability or additional-needs support should report to registration on arrival to receive a green dot on their access card.
This allows entry into the Didar Hall until:

- 60 minutes before Didar (most carers)
- 30 minutes before Didar (high-needs support)

Carers may not have an allocated chair and should remain close to the person they support. A designated carers’ seating area will be available in the South Hall. Nannies must remain in the Social Hall.

SEND Quiet and Sensory Spaces

SEND quiet and sensory spaces are pre-allocated. A drop-in regulation and movement area is also available in the Social Hall.

These spaces are for individuals who need a calm or low-stimulation environment. Parents and carers must remain with children at all times. Volunteers can offer reassurance and guidance but cannot provide personal or specialist care.

Primary Week 4: Preparing Our Hearts for Didar

Welcome! Today, Nura is getting ready for a very special day — Didar.

What is Didar?

Didar is the blessed moment when we are in the presence of our Imam, Mawlana Shah Rahim al Hussaini.

Have you ever seen someone you love after a long time? How did it make you feel inside?

Let us watch this video to learn more about it. As you watch the video, listen carefully and think about:

How does Didar help people feel close to the Imam and to Allah?

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhBVgSD ... ismaili%2F

Use the space provided in the Primary Light My Way booklet (available here https://www.iiuk.org/owncloud/index.php ... 6R6etCqTBn?) to:

Write or draw one thing that you learned from the video
Draw a heart and complete the sentence: Didar makes people feel ______
Write or draw yourself doing something kind.

Story time

Read the story - Nura prepares her heart from Primary Light My Way booklet (available herehttps://www.iiuk.org/owncloud/index.php/s/Foe7p6R6etCqTBn?).

The wise bird said to Nura, “Today, you will receive a special blessing, a moment of closeness, light, and love. To welcome it, you need only bring your best self.”

Nura learned that preparing for Didar is not only about how we dress or where we sit, it is also about how we prepare our hearts.

Preparing the Heart

Before Didar, we try to:

- Be calm and quiet
- Show respect and good manners (adab)
- Have grateful thoughts
- Be kind to everyone

Activity: Didar Space Simulation

Find a quiet space where you are.
Sit comfortably. Place your hand on your heart.
Take one slow breath in… and breathe out.

Think quietly:

- How do I want to feel during Didar?
- What can I do to show respect?

Complete Week 4, Activity 1 in the Primary Light My Way booklet

Optional Activity

Draw or write:

- Three things you might see in the Didar space
- One feeling you hope to carry in your heart

Remember
During Didar:

- Mawlana Hazar Imam blesses the Jamat
- Mawlana Hazar Imam makes a Farman
- We offer our bayah, mehmani, and love

Nura reminds us:

A calm and grateful heart helps us experience Didar deeply.

Secondary Week 4: In the Presence of the Imam

Meeting the Imam is about being present, respectful, and sincere, and carrying that experience into everyday life.

Welcome Back

Think about a time you were about to do something important (a test, performance, game, or meeting).

Which feeling fits best?

- excited
- nervous
- calm
- quiet
- happy

Write one feeling or just think about it.

Explore

Learn a new word: Adab

Adab means showing respect through:

actions
words
attitude

Think:

What does respectful behaviour look like in special moments?
Is respect only about what we do or also about how we feel inside?
Optional writing:

“For me, adab means…”

Engage

Before – During – After Didar

Choose one section below and reflect (use the space provided in Secondary Light My Way booklet - available here):

Before Didar

One thing I can do to prepare my heart

During Didar

One feeling I hope to have

After Didar

One quality I want to carry forward
Write 1–2 sentences or keywords.

Reflect

Complete this sentence honestly:

“After Didar, I want to remember to ______.”

Take one deep breath in… and out.

One-Line Promise

Instruction: Write a one-line promise that you want to make.

Prompt:
“After Didar, one small thing I want to practice is ______.”

Promise guidelines:
Write one clear, simple action:

- being kinder
- being more patient

On the second day of his visit to the UK, Mawlana Hazar Imam spent much of the day at the Ismaili Centre in London, where he granted two youth mulaqats in the intimate setting of the Darkhana prayer hall.

Later in the day, Hazar Imam returned to the Centre to meet with Jamati leaders at an institutional reception, in which he thanked attendees and their families for their service to the Jamat and wider society.

The Ismaili Centre was buzzing with activity throughout the day, as volunteers worked non-stop to ensure today’s events ran smoothly.

Tomorrow, Hazar Imam will grace the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands Jamats with didar.

As received

*Youth Mulaqat 2*
*Highlights and Key Guidance* (as per my memory)

Hazar Imam had a morning session with Youth (mostly London based). I was in the afternoon session (mostly Youth outside London). Hazar Imam had left the venue (Ismaili Center) after the morning session.

He returned in the evening to grace a Youth Mulaqat to the second group and the institutional reception. The Mulaqat was held in the Prayer Hall of the Ismaili Centre in London. For the morning session, Hazar Imam arrived earlier, but for the afternoon session, he was a bit late from schedule. The youth were very energetic and warmly welcomed Mawlana Hazar Imam with Salwat.

Hazar Imam entered the building and Salwat Recitation started. He was received by Jamati leaders after which he made his way upstairs to his room. After a while, Hazar Imam made his way to the Prayer Hall, where the Youth Jamat was desperately waiting for him. Outside the hall, He waved the volunteers in the cloakroom and shoe area.

Student Mukhi Kamadiya welcomed Mawlana Hazar Imam outside the prayer hall (we could see on the screens). And the next moment, Khudavind was walking amongst us all the way to the stage at the front. Hazar Imam's walking pace was fast, as he was on the stage in just a minute (or at least I felt so). Also the prayer Hall is not so big, so there was a very small distance from the entrance to the stage.

While Khudavind was walking through the Hall, Salwat Recitation continued aloud, until he sat on his Takht.

After he sat, Devotional Recitations were done from South Asian, Syrian and Persian traditions. After this Khudavind Imam-e-Zaman graciously made a Farman to us. Below are key points (in random order)

Hazar Imam was in a very Jolly mood and cracked jokes a couple of times.

He started Farman with: "My Dearest Jamat". He graciously wished us *Good Afternoon*. He gave blessings for Mushkil Aasan, Good Health, Success and Happiness and Barakaat, and said Khanavadan.

Hazar Imam said in the beginning of his Farman, that as our Imam, he is very much concerned about our education. Then he jokingly said that it's sometimes good to be able to skip school for a couple of days and he knows it very well being a father 😂.

* He said that he is very happy to be with the young members of the Jamat. When he sees us youth, he sees the future of the Jamat in our generation and the future ones.
* Hazar Imam spoke about Bayah. He said that each one of us has a permanent spiritual bond with our imam. He cares for us and loves us and wants us to know that we are always in his heart, in his thoughts and in his prayers.
*
* He said that meeting with youth in prayer hall of Ismaili centre is very meaningful to him. Whenever we return to this space or any other Jamatkhana, it will remind us of this special meeting with Imam.
* He advised to make good career choices which will help us throughout our lives.
* He wants his spiritual children to be happy and told us to smile. It makes him happy if the Jamat is happy.
* Hazar Imam spoke of global conflict and said that he anticipates that it will continue for some time. He prayed for the peaceful and equitable resolution of conflicts
* Hazar Imam spoke about the status and respect the elderly in the Jamat deserve. He said to learn from their experience. Their experience is invaluable and nowhere else to be found. He said sometimes we take them for granted and think that they hardly know how the world today works (and joked that wish his children would understand this 😂).
* Hazar Imam advised us to step out of our comfort zone and take on tasks which are difficult but will make you stronger. He said: Don't give up on something because it is hard. Take on challenges, they make you strong.
* He reminded the youth Jamat that they are here in the UK and Ireland because someone stepped out of their comfort zone - parents, grandparents or perhaps great grandparents. We should treat them with respect and care for them as they did when we were young.
* Hazar Imam told us to learn about the mosaic of different traditions of Jamat. Learn about your own culture, history and heritage. And see where your cultural heritage fits into greater Ismaili history.
* He stressed on the issue of social media redirecting us towards not so good things. He wants us to connect with each other in person and spend time with each other in the real world.
* Hazar Imam reminded that only soul is enteral. Just as our bodies need nourishment, so does our soul. So take time out from your routine and remember Allah, thank Him for all the blessings you have.
* When possible come together to pray in Jamatkhana and whenever possible for you, remember Allah.
* On Imamat Day, we are to receive a Tasbeeh from Hazar Imam, and he wants us to keep that as a reminder of this meeting and to use it to remember Allah.
* Hazar Imam graciously prayed for spiritual wellbeing, happiness, physical and mental health, Mushkil Aasan, Sirat-e-Mustaqim
* He reminded us of the ethics and values of our faith. Kindness, generosity, humility. We are a community known for our ethics and values.
* Keep the values central to your life.
* Let your life revolve around faith.
* He said that we will soon receive a copy of Farmans. He wants us to read and understand them.

Mehmani was presented by Student Mukhi Kamadiya and Mukhiyani Kamadiyani of each Jamatkhana. Hazar Imam graced the dry fruits and sweets with his Mubarak blessing and blessed Mukhi Kamadiya and Mukhiyani Kamadiyani of each Jamatkhana placing his blessed hands on their shoulders.

Before leaving the Hall, Hazar Imam made a Farman.
* He said I accept your Mehmani and services
* Gave blessings to volunteers
* Gave blessings to who are a shoulder for someone in difficulty to lean on.
* Gave Dua Ashish for Mushkil Aasan, Unity and Barakaat, and graciously said Khanavadan.

When he left the Hall, he had a conversation with Students Mukhi Kamadiya and Mukhiyani Kamadiyani who were on stage with him.

He thanked them for being with him asked them about their studies, and education and whether they were born in the UK or somewhere else. Kamadiya Saheb went emotional while talking to Hazar Imam and *MAWLA HUGGED HIM*. He also blessed Mukhi Saheb by placing both His Mubarak Hands on Student Mukhi's both shoulders.

While making his way out, President Naushad briefed Hazar Imam about a Shukrana Painting (Different than the planned Mosaic). Hazar Imam then made his way towards Institutional Reception in the Social Hall.

Youth in the Hall were sooo happy and were happily greeting each other and sharing their experiences to each other (which was a bit noisy 😅, and Waezeen had to repeatedly shush us by saying on mic to us to be quiet and whisper 😂)

Everyone was soooo happy.

When coming out of Ismaili centre at about 8.45pm or around he waved the Jamat standing opposite road! Everyone was very happy.

Above is what I experienced and Remembered from the Mulaqat. Hazar Imam would also have spoken about some more things, but I might have unintentionally skipped them.

Shukar Mawla Bapa for gracing us with your Didar and making us feel close to you ❤️
Shukranlillah Walhamdulillah ❤️

Youth Mulaqat 02.02.2026

For some of us, this was our very first didar. It was a rollercoaster of emotions - we were anxious, excited, our hearts were touched. I must share my personal experience with you.

I couldn’t sleep all night - the anticipation, the yearning to see our Mawla, I woke up very early in the morning. I reflected very deeply on the journey to the Ismaili Centre, with every step to the bus stop, every second in the bustling bus, but for me it felt like my heart had blocked out all the noise of the regular busy London life. All I had on my mind was - I want to see Mawla, everything will be okay. When I reached South Kensington station, it was as if my body couldn’t do it. My heart yearned, but it was anxious, it was scared. Every step felt like slow motion, because it had finally hit me that today everything was going to change. Didar was going to happen.

Apa (older sister) Muqaddas had seen me, and quickly approached me and grabbed my hand, she led me to the entrance, I couldn’t have done it myself. I was shaking, I was on the verge of tears, I felt as if I was going to collapse to the ground. Thinking back at this now, I realised everything had gone as how Mawla had willed it. It was clear He had willed for me to run into Muqaddas, who would become my support to getting to the Mulaqat.

After quickly going through security, we reached the prayer hall in the Ismaili Centre. The intizar period had begun, my mind racing, my heart pounding. But I kept telling myself, I will see Mawla, and everything will change.

After an hour of recitations, tasbihs, we saw the live screen - Mawla’s car had arrived. Al Waez’s voice changed, as he guided us through “Allahumma Salli Allah..” quietly, as Mawla exited the car. My heart felt as if it was going to burst from joy, seeing Oshur open the car door and shake Mawla’s hand. Shukr, he is so lucky, to be the one to open the door for those blessed steps, to be the one to help Mushkil Kusha enter. Mawla walked into the Ismaili Centre, we kept reciting “Allahumma Salli Allah..”

There was a brief wait, but it felt painstakingly long. Our hearts were ready, we were ready to see the light of Allah.

Then, He entered the prayer hall. Our Allahumma Salli Allah’s became louder, some became choked. Al Waez had become emotional in his voice. The room suddenly became radiant, He stood out like a beam of light.

I never understood what it meant to feel His presence, but now I do. I felt the presence of MHI, the presence of His eternal light, the presence of Allah’s light in our hearts. My tongue, and the fingers I use to write this are limited, but if I could give my heart to you and let you feel what I felt, you would be overcome with joy, happiness, tranquility, peace. We felt the Divine Light with our hearts, it touched us deeply. The prayer hall was filled with tears of joy, eyes gazing upon The Light in awe.

As Mawla sat down on His throne, the grey UK skies disappeared, and the sunlight illuminated His face. A radiant face. Light upon light. Shukr. This was, without a doubt, the undeniable Truth.

As the Qur’an says “It is not the eyes that are blind, but the hearts”. My heart was touched His Nur, I feel regret for those who cannot feel the Divine Light.

Faizali recited Qasida, others recited Qasidas, Ginans. in the huzur of MHI. But after, I felt Mawla look at me. It was a look of reassurance, that everything was going to be okay. And suddenly, I felt peace. All my problems were going to be okay. All my wishes, if Allah wills it, will be granted.

When Mawla gave his farman, he joked with us youth a lot. The room filled with anxiety lightened up. My own father never joked with me, always I had felt an absence of a father in my life. It was a deep hole in my heart that constantly gnawed away at me every single day, it changed my behaviour, it made me anxious.

But today, the farman felt like a one to one conversation. I understood that I always had a spiritual father - he filled the hole in my heart. He spoke about the importance of education, the importance of how we spend our time, the dangers of social media in the current world, and even joked that we shouldn’t rely on social media for social fulfilment, but each other, and I quote, “I. R. L.”. Mawla reminded us of the importance of our Jamatkhana, the prayer hall. Mawla enjoyed our smiling, laughing faces, and encouraged us to be positive always, to laugh and smile with one another.

As Mawla left, a younger boy waved at him. And Mawla, lovingly, waved back. He smiled at us, gazed at each and every one of us lovingly, and the words echoed “my dear jamat.. my spiritual children”.

Ya Mawla tui mushkil kusha ♥️

Hazar Imam was in Hall for 2 hours. Hall looked very serene and full of Light both spiritual and worldly. Firman on good ethics, helping all, parents should limit social media time for children, follow Islamic ethics, do not use social media to slander others. Hazar Imam was looking like a beacon of light, hope and Noor as he walked on every red carpeted area.

He informed the jamat that King Charles had invited him and all Noorani Family for diner at Windsor Castle tomorrow night.

Mawla spent considerable time in the Medical section. He told the jamat he would like to shake hands with all and give high fives but he would do that next time. As Mawla walked towards exit doors some children and adults stood up trying to shake his hands, kiss his feet etc. Mawla passed by the Seniors sitting on chairs and beamed at all of them.

Shukhar Alhamdulila🤲. Deedar Mubarak. We thought of our global jamat and kul ruhanis during the deedar.

🌹🌹 This update is from a murid in London who attended the didar this morning. So touching.... 😢

Dearest family

MUBARAK MUBARAK MUBARAK. Deedar Mubarak.

We say Shukar to our beloved Hazar Imam for blessing us with his Deedar. We felt truly blessed to be in the presence of our Imam.

As he entered the hall, the salwaat began. After a short walk Hazar imam stopped and took a little girl in pink dress’s hand and allowed her to walk with him on the red carpet before releasing her hand to go back to her mother.

As he continued walking children were handing him hand written letters and messages which he gracefully accepted and put them in his pocket.
At one point children gathered in front of Mowla before being escorted back to their seats.
Mowla stopped and picked up a child and gave him the biggest hug before putting him down again. The Jamat was in awe of this and you could hear the soft voices saying “ahhh” in happiness.

After ginans and Qasida’s, the President read a heartfelt message with prayers for Imam’s long life, happiness and good health, and you could see the imam miming “Ameen”

Hazar imam then stood and started by saying “I don’t say I like one Jamat more than the other, but this visit I will never forget, never forget”

He relayed firmans for peace, unity and unrest and sent prayers for the souls of the Ruhani.

The King will be hosting a dinner for Hazar Imam on his first Imamat day tomorrow.

Hazar Imam was ready to leave and as he walked through the hall he stopped, shook many hands and talked to a few murids also and even allowed one or two to kiss his hand.

He then visited the sick and spent quite a lot of time with them.

We are truly blessed to have experienced this Deedar. It was an emotional experience but a wonderfully warm Deedar.

DIDAR MUBARAK.

Update from a Murid in Deedar today:

Mowla was very emotional and overwhelmed. He struggled initially to speak, but did very well as he progressed. He interestingly mentioned how the East African ismailis worked very hard to do work in the UK which has now led to a better future for the children and grandchildren and that it was vital that grandchildren appreciate that strength and that grand children spend time with grand parents to understand roots and build a bond of respect.

He went on to say i have seen every face in the hall and outside of the hall. He mentioned that this is a very special moment that he will never forget. He said i am giving you all a tasbih. Use it to remember Allah and also to do quiet contemplation What was also so beautiful is he joined in during zikr tasbih and recited Allahu Akbar and the Salwat tasbih Yes.

He joined in those but didn't naturally join in during Ya Ale Nabi, Aulad e Ali, Mushkil Kusha Ya Hazar Imam.

This morning, Mawlana Hazar Imam graced the UK, Ireland, and Channel Islands Jamats with didar.

The Mukhi of London Darkhana submitted bayʿa to the Imam on behalf of the Jamat and Naushad Jivraj, President of the Ismaili Council for the UK, delivered a loyalty address.

A series of three gifts were presented to the Imam. Members of the Jamat had collectively prepared an art installation—the Shukrana Mosaic—in which they reflect on the blessings in their lives, expressed through drawings, words, and colour. They also pledged acts of kindness in service of others, while young murids aged 8-14 shared stories about their lives for Hazar Imam’s sons Prince Irfan and Prince Sinan.

As Hazar Imam departed the Didar Hall, young volunteers and Jamati leaders gathered to bid him farewell. He later addressed interfaith couples before departing the venue.

Earlier in the day, Hazar Imam called upon the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan at City Hall, where they discussed the work of Imamat Institutions based in London.

Dear Family,

Dad and I were blessed today by Hazar Imam personally. We spoke for 5 mins and he spoke through trying to bring dad to khane. I mentioned that there is no facility and he said he will speak with mukhi and get something sorted. He asked me how I was doing whilst looking after dad and I did tell him it is tough but dad is everything to me. I said he reminds me of Shah Karim and Hazar imam got emotional. He said he misses his father so much and knows what I am going through. He said for me to stay strong. I cried and he hugged me tight and then hugged dad too and blessed us with muskilusaan tasbih. Mawla was also very emotional all throughout you could see in his eyes. I said dad used to do so much seva and cook for Didar and all Ismaili functions and he was very appreciative. He told me to continue doing the great work I do and that he blesses me with his hand on my shoulder.

This is such a wonderful opportunity for my Dad and Me. We feel so blessed as a family.

The Didar was really powerful and very future focused. He spoke strongly about the importance of mental health for everyone, especially the elderly, and stressed more than once that there is no shame in getting support or being checked.
He warned about AI, fake news, and misinformation, saying we need to be careful about what we believe and share, including things we see on Social media (WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram) and even content that appears to be shared from jamatkhana He said some people here ( in our Jamath) are bending truth to push political narratives or hate, and that this must stop.

He emphasised pluralism and unity, saying diversity in jamatkhana should go beyond culture and background, and that all partners are welcome. He encouraged us to help one another, use our networks, and lift each other up.
He spoke about the importance of ethical work, building businesses and projects that inspire, and using our community to build and network and bringing what we build back to strengthen the jamat. Entrepreneurs and community builders were described as essential.

He also spoke about the need to better explain our faith to others, especially at a time when there is a growing divide between East and West.

We will receive a tasbi in khane tomorrow

Imamat Day will be marked at Windsor Castle with King Charles and the Prince of Wales

Overall, his message was very modern, compassionate, and focused on care, responsibility, unity, and the future. One thing worth mentioning is that the Didar felt a little overwhelming at moments. There were times when a lot of people rushed forward and surrounded him, which briefly felt unsafe. He handled it with warmth and humour, even joking at the end that he couldn’t meet everyone and asking people to remain seated though many were understandably emotional and didn’t fully listen. The cameras were briefly stopped twice during this while he was mobbed a bit.
Despite this, he was incredibly kind with the children lifting some up, accepting drawings and envelopes, and taking time to acknowledge people as he moved through. As he was leaving, I waved to him and he smiled and waved back, which was a really special moment for me.

Overall, there was so much love in the room. At the same time, it felt like a gentle reminder for us as a jamat about respect, calm, and care, especially around elders and children, and about modelling that behaviour for the next generation.

UK Didar – 3 February 2026 | ExCeL London

Testimony – Overview, & Calls to Action

On 3 February 2026, approximately 10,000 murids from the United Kingdom and Ireland gathered at ExCeL London for a sacred Didar — a religious gathering and worship in the presence of Noor Mawlana Shah Rahim Al Husseini Hazar Imam

Hazar Imsm conveyed profound spiritual blessings, clear guidance, and important calls to action for the Jamat — guidance that requires reflection, implementation, and lived practice.

Key chronology & Highlights of Didar Mubarak

• Entrance and Salwat: Mawlana Hazar Imam entered as the congregation recited Salwat. He greeted murids, hugged children, received letters and gifts, and showed personal loving care and attention.

• Acceptance of the Chain of Imamat: Affirms the ever-present Noor from the Prophet, the Qur’an, and Allah.

• Ceremonies : Permission was sought from Imam and granted for each ceremony and prayer, followed by the Imam’s blessings of Khanavadan to each reciter

• Zikr and Supplications:

Concluded with the Ismaili Shahada:

Hazar Imam
Wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulullah
Wa Amirul Momineen Aliyan Allah – Noor Mawlana Shah Rahim Al Husseini, Hazar Imam, wa Hadril wa Mawjood. Hai Zanda Quaiyam Paya

Meaning:
The Shahada affirms faith in Allah, the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and Ali as the Commander of the Faithful. The Noor of Mawlana Shah Rahim Al Husseini, Hazar Imam, is present, manifest, ever-living, and ever guiding.
