Satima jo Rojo - Sataima jo Rojo

Post by Admin »

The fast of the 7th day, symbolising the spiritual recognition by all souls of the Noor of Imam has been one of the Ismaili tradition that lasted centuries. Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah commented it as the "half day Rojo" to Count Merali Ramji who ask for the rojo to be forgiven for that next day Sultan Muhammad Shah was giving Didar. Count Merali Ramji told me Sultan Mhammad Shah refused to forgive that Rojo for the next day though there was Didar. He had asked because once on Chandrat Beej there was Didar and the same Imam had accepted to forgive that beej jo rojo because it was on a day of Didar. And of course there are many Talikas of Mowlana Shah Karim sent with blessings to the Mijlas of Satima, called in one Talika as "Sat mi Raaj ji Mijlas" [One such Talika has been published)

Now it has been eliminated in some places and since 1964 there is an active attempt to eliminate it. People (even in article written by scholar) confuse Sataima (7th day) with Sati-Ma (old pious women) and this ignorance has pushed them in 1964 conference and there after to push for it to be discontinued. A list of changes was announced in Jamatkhanas recently saying that after the end of the current appointments. the Mijlas of Sataima will be discontinued. That of course was announcement, not part of the Talika. Then in some countries the Mijlas was discontinued immediately. Of course an announcement can be interpreted and changed any time, if it was part of the Talika, people would have objected for the change of Talika and the immediate discontinuance instead of discontinuance at the end of the Mukhi/Kamadia appointment term..

Now it looks like the Imam did not agree with those who say this particular Mijlas in not important.

Today Saturday 25th April 2026 , AS RECEIVED: "My Mukhianima met Mowla Bapa. She told him that today we have Mowla Jo Rojo Majlis and that she's Mukhianima. He gave her a hug. She asked him for Du'a. He gave Du'a for the whole jamat. There was such a buzz in khane. After the run, those who were downstairs, Mowla told them, what are you doing downstairs, there's a Majlis in khane."

I knew one lady who has now passed away and who was very steadfast and rigorous in observing Satima jo Rojo. She was once compelled to travel on the day of the Rojo, against her wishes. They got involved in an accident and luckily no one was seriously harmed! Something to reflect about.
