The National Council informs the Jamat (community) with great joy that Maulana Hazar Imam has graciously decided to visit Pakistan from May 20 to May 26.

During this period, Hazar Imam will perform community-related duties in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, and will also hold meetings with the government in Islamabad. Upon the completion of all necessary arrangements and approvals, the National Council will provide further details regarding the nature of the events, timings, and locations.

All members of the Jamat in Pakistan who have not yet registered or who have family members not yet registered are informed that registration will take place from May 1 to May 5 at their respective Jamatkharnas. Registration is mandatory for all community members to participate in current and future community affairs.

Maulana Hazar Imam has clearly stated that these community affairs are exclusively for the Jamats of Gilgit, Hunza, Ishkoman-Punial, Gupis-Yasin, and Upper/Lower Chitral. Hazar Imam has instructed that members from other regional councils in Pakistan, or those from outside Pakistan, should not travel to these areas during this visit.

The National Council, along with other community institutions, Mukhi/Kamadia Sahebs, and office bearers, congratulates the Jamat on this blessed occasion of Maulana Hazar Imam's visit and the approval of the Pakistan tour. On this joyful occasion, we offer our humble gratitude to Imam-e-Zaman.

Aga Khan Expected to Visit Pakistan from May 20 to 26
50th Imam of Ismailis to meet followers in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral

Special Correspondent

Islamabad, April 23, 2026: His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan, the 50th Imam of the Ismailis, will visit Pakistan from May 20 to 26, 2026.

Sources told ChitraToday that during his visit the Aga Khan will meet his followers and review working of AKDN in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral from May 21 to 26. The Aga Khan will meet the prime minister in Islamabad on May 20.

The sources said that Ismailis in Gilgit, Hunza, Ishkoman, Ponyal, Gupis, Yasen and Lower and Upper Chitral will gather at designated places for the Didar of the Imam.

Earlier, His Highness Prince Rahim was expected to visit Pakistan in the first week of April, but due to the changing security environment in the region the visit was delayed.

Didargags

Meanwhile, work on the preparation of Didargahs in Garam Chashma Lower Chitral and Parwak Lasht Upper Chitral has entered final stages with volunteers continuing work at the sites.

Parwak has been selected as the Didargah in Upper Chitral for the first time and this has been hailed as the most suitable and accessible one for the Jamat of Upper Chitral.

In Lower Chitral, the Imam will meet his followers at the same private land in Garam Chashma where the 49th Imam Shah Karim had gave Didar in 2017. In Upper Chitral, he had met his followers near Booni.

First visit as 50th Imam

It will be the first visit of His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan as the 50 Imam of the Ismaili Muslims.

The 49th Imam, Prince Karim Aga Khan last visited Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan and also met his followers in Islamabad and Karachi in December 2017. Aga Khan IV passed away in Lisbon Portugal at the age of 88 on February 4, 2025.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan, since his accession as the 50th hereditary Imam, has visited the Jamat in different parts of the world, including Europe and Canada.

Mawlana Hazar Imam announces official visit to Pakistan

Image

At the invitation of the Government of Pakistan, Mawlana Hazar Imam will undertake an official visit to Pakistan from 20 to 26 May 2026, during which he will meet with the Jamat residing in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, and with government officials in Islamabad.

In a Talika Mubarak read in Jamatkhanas worldwide, Hazar Imam said he plans to visit the country again in the near future to meet with his Jamat residing in Southern and Central Pakistan.

To be able to focus his attention on the Jamat in the Northern Areas of Pakistan, Hazar Imam does not wish members of the Jamat from other parts of Pakistan, or from other countries, to travel to these regions during his visit.

Whether Mowlana Shah Rahim’s didar is scheduled in the USA, UK, Portugal, Kenya, or Pakistan, the love and devotion of the Jamat for Mowlana Hazar Imam shine with the same intensity everywhere.

Just look at the advance preparations by the Northern Pakistan jamats—repairing roads for months with limited means and equipment. Every effort, every drop of sweat, is a reflection of their deep, heartfelt love for our beloved Mowlana Hazar Imam.

This is not just enthusiasm—it is Ishq. A love that goes beyond circumstances, beyond resources, beyond borders.

Truly, Jamat is Jamat. Whether in developing regions or the most advanced countries, the devotion remains constant, pure, and unshaken.

It is this profound love for Mowlana Hazar Imam that unites Ismailis across the world and makes the Jamat truly one.

While visiting the decorations on various jamatkhanas in 1985, the then Dean of Islamic Studies at McGill University, Dr Donald Little, said to an expatriate working at AKU that "Many things have change in the Ismaili community through centuries but what has not changed is the devotion of Ismailis for their Imam"
