L’arrivée a été particulièrement serrée : l’irlandaise Vespertilio, bonne finisseuse, est troisième
à une encolure.

« C’est énorme de remporter cette Poule d’Essai ! Francis-Henri Graffard a eu l'instinct, l'année
dernière, de voir en elle une pouliche de Poule. Cette semaine, nous nous sommes posés la
question. Fallait-il courir la Poule d’Essai dimanche ? Ou le Prix des Lilas samedi à Chantilly ?
Nous raisonnons en fonction de l'avenir, c'est-à-dire en pensant à l'élevage. Nous avons donc
tenté la Poule d’Essai.
Son jockey Maxime Guyon a monté une superbe course, la pouliche a été parfaitement
positionnée, en sachant ménager ses forces. À mi-ligne droite, l'incertitude était grande.
Pour un éleveur, produire une pouliche comme elle, c'est extraordinaire. C'est la récompense de
décennies de travail. Les gagnantes classiques sont tellement importantes pour l'élevage, qui
plus est sur le mile [1.600 mètres, NDLR].
Notre élevage vit aussi un grand moment avec la réussite des étalons Zarak et Siyouni. Leur
réussite n'est pas une coïncidence, c'est un travail de longue haleine et beaucoup de choses
plaident en leur faveur sur le papier. C'est un jeu d'échecs avec la nature, comme aime à le dire
mon père. Dans notre quête, nous sommes aidés par le fait que nous n'avons pas besoin de
suivre une mode. »

All it took was the merest glimpse of daylight deep into the closing stages of Sunday's Poule d'Essai des Pouliches for Rouhiya to shoot between rivals and score an eighth win in the race for the Aga Khan and his family.
It was the kind of devastating kick that we all yearn to see from a top miler, and the kind of acceleration breeders search for when making their mating plans.
Sunday's scenario was a far cry from Ridasiyna's success in an attritional 2012 Prix de l'Opera, the last time a close member of this family returned to the Group 1 winner's enclosure in the green and red silks, and the revival of the line evidently struck a deep emotional chord with Princess Zahra Aga Khan.
"For me personally, it’s wonderful to see this family come back to Group 1 prominence," Her Highness reflected. "It is extraordinary and for me is something that carries a lot of emotion. The family has been quite quiet for several generations and for it to come back this year is very special, and repays a lot of work."
Dam Rondonia managed to earn her black type for trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre when third in the Listed Grand Prix de Fontainebleau, and has now produced a Classic winner from just her second foal.

Rouhiya's year-older sister by Le Havre, Rodainah, won twice for Francis Graffard and was sold at Arqana last December to race for David Salabi for €130,000, while the Aga Khan team have two more fillies to look forward to, a two-year-old by Camelot in training with Graffard and a yearling by Sea The Moon.
Rondonia is out of the Listed-winning Marju mare Raydiya and is thus a sister to Debutante Stakes winner Raydara, dam of 2022 Prix Isonomy winner Rajapour. To the breeder's point, Ridasiyna appears under Rouhiya's fifth dam, Rilasa, as does the multiple Group 1 winner Laurens.
Princess Zahra said: "To win the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches is huge for a breeder and to produce a filly like her is very important for the future.
"We’ve been trying to bring speed into these families and it’s been a labour of 20 years. With this family we hadn’t managed it until now. The staying power is a given, but she has that speed a breeder looks for.
"This race and the Diane mean everything for us as breeders because they can launch a whole family. For this family to come back in a Group 1 like this adds great value to all her sisters and the entire line."
Can lightning strike a third time?
Princess Zahra's own emerald and chocolate silks were carried to success in the Pouliches by Darjina in 2007, while the last two Aga Khan fillies to win France's version of the 1,000 Guineas hold the unique distinction of having each bequeathed the operation a stallion apiece.
The result of 2008 world champion Zarkava's cover by Dubawi in 2012 was Zarak, whose own career goes from strength to strength and who completed a near-perfect day in siring Metropolitan, winner of the Poule d'Essai des Poulains.
And during her sadly short career at stud, the 2015 Pouliches winner Ervedya produced Erevann, another stallion son of Dubawi who has made his debut at Haras de Bonneval this covering season.
Might Rouhiya have the potential to repeat the trick?
Princess Zahra said: "You always hope so. Especially when they have that acceleration over a mile, you can always hope."
The team at Bonneval is well aware that being able to stand two sires of Siyouni and Zarak's quality at the same time is not an everyday occurrence, though the princess pointed to the hard work that has gone into producing a pair of stallions who can help financially underpin her family's breeding and racing to the scale that it currently exists.

"Zarak has extraordinary statistics and of course he is blessed with extraordinary genetics, being out of a champion and by a great sire," she said. "Siyouni hails from a Lagardere family which is renowned for precocity and speed. I don’t think it’s all a coincidence. We’ve worked for a very long time to produce horses in that mould.
"Certainly both stallions had a lot going for them on paper. As my father says, you are playing a game of chess with nature. But they each bring the qualities that we have spent a long time searching for.
"We’re lucky not to have to follow fashion. We can follow our own genetic path and that means we can stand horses who aren't world famous and if they are good stallions because they’re well bred, that’s the way it should be."
All major breeders go through peaks and troughs but it would be fair to say that the Aga Khan is enjoying something of a purple patch in terms of producing top-level winners who go on to produce a real body of work on the track; the three Group 1 winners that preceded Rouhiya – Tarnawa, her half-sister Tahiyra and Vadeni – each backed up on more than one occasion, and boast eight of the most precious victories between them.
The breeder in Princess Zahra will already be looking forward to Rouhiya's career in the paddocks, which she revealed was one of the prime motivations for rolling the dice and going for the Poule rather than a Listed race at Chantilly 24 hours earlier.
But whether it's an attempt to keep hold of the Coronation Stakes crown won by Tahiyra last season, or a step up in trip in the Diane, Rouhiya's next appearance will be a golden opportunity to prove that, like her immediate predecessors, she is no one-hit wonder, as well as to further establish her family across the Aga Khan's breeding empire and beyond.

GILGIT: Princess Zahra Aga Khan, daughter of the hereditary Shia Ismaili spiritual leader, Aga Khan IV, has
reaffirmed the Aga Khan Development Netowrk’s support for the development of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Having arrived in Gilgit today, she met with the Governor and Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, and other government officials.
The region’s political leaders acknowledged and appreciated AKDN’s role in the region’s development, said two separate press releases by the Governor and CM secretariat.
Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan conveyed his best wishes to His Highness the Aga Khan, and also extended an invitation to him to visit GB, the press statement furhter added.
The Chief Minister urged Princess Zahra to expand AKDN’s activities to all remote parts of the region, especially in the field of health and education. The CM said that while the physical infrastructure has been built, there are issues related to availability of quality health professionals in the region, an area in which AKDN can play its role.
Princess Zahra visited different AKDN projects in Gilgit city, and also inaugurated the newly established Aga Khan Hospital Gilgit, which is an upgraded and enhanced version of the Aga Khan Medical Center, Gilgit.
She is also scheduled to inaugurate and visit different projects, including a new health facility and a girls hostel.

GILGIT: Princess Zahra Aga Khan, daughter of the hereditary Shia Ismaili spiritual leader, Aga Khan IV, has
reaffirmed the Aga Khan Development Netowrk’s support for the development of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Having arrived in Gilgit today, she met with the Governor and Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, and other government officials.
The region’s political leaders acknowledged and appreciated AKDN’s role in the region’s development, said two separate press releases by the Governor and CM secretariat.
Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan conveyed his best wishes to His Highness the Aga Khan, and also extended an invitation to him to visit GB, the press statement furhter added.
The Chief Minister urged Princess Zahra to expand AKDN’s activities to all remote parts of the region, especially in the field of health and education. The CM said that while the physical infrastructure has been built, there are issues related to availability of quality health professionals in the region, an area in which AKDN can play its role.
Princess Zahra visited different AKDN projects in Gilgit city, and also inaugurated the newly established Aga Khan Hospital Gilgit, which is an upgraded and enhanced version of the Aga Khan Medical Center, Gilgit.
She is also scheduled to inaugurate and visit different projects, including a new health facility and a girls hostel.

GILGIT: Princess Zahra Aga Khan, who arrived at Gilgit-Baltistan on Thursday, has assured the government of support and cooperation for development in the education and health sectors.
GB Governor Syed Mehdi Shah, Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan and his cabinet members met Princess Zahra during her visit to the region.
On the occasion, the chief minister lauded the services of the Aga Khan Development Network in the health, education, infrastructure, and social development.
GB Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan welcomed her in GB on behalf of the government and the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. He said that it was their wish that the health and education programmes under the AKDN should be extended to all the districts of GB, especially remote areas.
He requested the cooperation of AKDN to address the shortage of doctors, specialists, paramedical staff, and biomedical equipment in health facilities in Gilgit-Baltistan. He also highlighted the need for training of teachers and sought the cooperation of Aga Khan Education Service to improve access to and the quality of education in the area.
While talking to her, the chief minister also conveyed his best wishes to His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan and extended an invitation to visit GB.
Princess Zahra assured the CM that health and education projects would be reviewed.
She also discussed AKDN’s interventions in Gilgit-Baltistan and other areas of mutual interest in a meeting with Governor Syed Mehdi Shah held at Governor House.
The governor appreciated AKDN’s role in GB and requested the support of the institutions for the development of the region. HBL Chairman Sultan Ali Allana and other officials were also present at the meeting.

2024, May 23: Princess Zahra yesterday attended the inauguration of the purpose-built Aga Khan Health Centre in Aliabad, a new facility that aims to boost the quality of healthcare in the region.
Equipped with the latest medical technologies and staffed by highly trained healthcare professionals, the new centre is a major step forward in the infrastructure of Aliabad and the surrounding area, bringing timely and effective medical services closer to the community.
To ensure residents receive the best possible care, the new centre is equipped with digital-health services, an accident and emergency department, a high-dependency unit, and comprehensive obstetric and neonatal services. The new building also houses residence facilities for doctors and nurses.
In the hub and spokes model that the Aga Khan Health Service has adopted in Pakistan, the centre is linked to the Aga Khan Hospital in Gilgit for referrals, while Aliabad itself serves as a sub-hub for nine basic health centres in Hunza and Nagar. The facility also provides digital health services where tele-consultations for psychiatry and dermatology are offered to patients.
The overall goal is to provide accessible, high-quality healthcare that not only treats illnesses but promotes overall well-being. This centre, therefore, will be a cornerstone of AKDN’s efforts to improve health outcomes in the community. Princess Zahra concludes six-day visit to Pakistan
Covering more than a dozen projects across various districts and regions, Princess Zahra yesterday completed a whistle stop tour of northern Pakistan.
To conclude the visit, Princess Zahra, who was accompanied by her son Iliyan during the visit, attended a dinner hosted last night by the Jamati institutions in Pakistan. Performing artists from Gilgit, Hunza, and Chitral showcased their talents at the dinner, including the Coke Studio performer Natasha Baig.
Princess Zahra thanked the assembled leaders and acknowledged the important work being done by the institutions in Pakistan: “It's thanks to every single person in this system. Officially, unofficially. Unemployed. Volunteer. Donor. Friend. Every single person makes this network of agencies and institutions what it is,” she said.
“And so I just stand here as a representative of an ongoing vision. The vision that we're all following, His Highness' vision that has had such a huge impact… And I just want to say thank you.”
During her visit, Princess Zahra and her son Iliyan reviewed projects of the Aga Khan Development Network that are benefitting tens of thousands of people in the villages and towns of northern Pakistan.
Their first stop was Gilgit on 22 May, where Princess Zahra called on the Governor and the Chief Minister before visiting the recently upgraded Aga Khan Medical Centre in Gilgit, and the Aga Khan Higher Secondary School in Gilgit. Adjacent to the school is the Shah Karim Hostel established in 1968, which houses close to 200 students from surrounding towns to give them access to the High School. Princess Zahra met with the students in the hostel to learn more about their experiences.
The following day included a visit to the Aga Khan School in Aliabad established in 2018, and the Professional Development Centre, North in Gilgit, which was inaugurated by Mawlana Hazar Imam in 2000 and is the first of its kind development hub for teachers, teacher-educators, education administrators and managers in the region. Princess Zahra also attended the inauguration of the purpose-built Aga Khan Health Centre in Aliabad, a new facility that aims to boost the quality of healthcare in the region and bring timely and effective medical services closer to the community.
On 24 May, Princess Zahra and Iliyan visited a health centre and the Diamond Jubilee school in Immit and the Aga Khan Higher Secondary School in Gakhukch. They also observed an emergency simulation by the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH)’s emergency response teams. Later, they attended the inauguration of the Aga Khan Hostel in Sherqilla, a new facility designed to cater for and support female students of the adjacent Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Sherqilla.
The next day, they visited the Chitral Diagnostic Centre and the Aga Khan Medical Centre Booni, the hub facility of the Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan in the Chitral region. The centre was established to provide basic and comprehensive obstetric, neonatal, and child health care to approximately 250,000 people living in Upper Chitral and now serves as a major health care provider in the region. They also visited the AKAH’s Emergency Operation Centre in Chitral and the Aga Khan Higher Secondary School in Seenlasht. While at the school, Princess Zahra planted a tree as a symbolic groundbreaking for a new school to be built in nearby Garamchashma.
At last night’s dinner, President of the Ismaili Council for Pakistan Nizar Mewawalla thanked Princess Zahra for spending so much time in Pakistan and requested her to come back soon: “I would like to request Princess Zahra and her dear son, Iliyan, to please visit us again soon, because your visit here not only inspires the rest of us and the Jamats and the communities in which we work to do better, to do more,” he said.
“This is all driven by the spirit of the vision of our Imam. And your presence here makes us feel his presence in a much more direct manner. So thank you very much.”

Maynooth University (MU) has announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with The Aga Khan University. The strategic partnership, the first of its kind between an Irish university and The Aga Khan University, will foster collaboration in the coming years across several areas including research collaboration, student and staff mobility, and knowledge exchange in areas of mutual expertise and development.
The agreement was signed at an event held at Maynooth University, where Princess Zahra Aga Khan and The Aga Khan University President Sulaiman Shahabuddin joined Maynooth University President Professor Eeva Leinonen.
It is envisaged that the strategic partnership will focus initially on the following areas of mutual interest:
Health – healthy ageing, nursing, medicine more broadly, community health and data science
Climate – climate change impacts and mitigation, adaptation, societal resilience and data science
Teacher education, including early childhood education
Additional areas of interest will be explored, such as community and societal development and inclusion, arts and sciences, and library and archive services.
The partnership will facilitate the pursuit of joint research funding proposals in key areas of mutual interest from European and international funding bodies. The strategic partnership, the first of its kind between an Irish university and The Aga Khan University, will foster collaboration in the coming years across several areas including research collaboration, student and staff mobility, and knowledge exchange in areas of mutual expertise and development.

પાછા સામાન્ય જમાતે ત્યાંથી દૂર રહેવાનું, કોઈની નજીક નહીં જવાનું. આ આગેવાનો પાછા તેઓને ગરીબ જમાતના ઘરે લઈ જશે નહીં (આ એકાદ બે ચમચાઓના ઘરે લઈ જાય). કે સામાન્ય જમાતને મળાવશે નહીં કે તેઓના પ્રશ્નોનું-સમસ્યાઓનું નિરાકરણ નો સવાલ જ ઉભો થતો નથી

1. Persistent avoidable difficulties by the Poor and Vulnerable: The poor and vulnerable members of the community face significant difficulties in accessing support resources and funding from leaders in control.
2. This issue, driven by nepotism and a lack of transparency and accountability, has persisted for many years. The same group of individuals, including family and friends, have centralized control over resources.
3. Lack of Engagement with the Grassroots:When leaders and donors, including members of the Noorani Family, visit India, they interact primarily with the wealthy and powerful, neglecting the grassroots and the very poor and vulnerable members. This lack of direct interaction prevents them from understanding and addressing the real needs of the community. Whether due to deliberate avoidance or a lack of empathy, this has resulted in a growing divide between the rich and the poor over the last 20-30 years.
4. Failure to Visit Jamat Khannas and Homes: The complaint highlights that top visiting leaders and Aga Khan’s family members do not visit community centers or the homes of the very poor and vulnerable. This failure to engage with the grassroots has allowed the status quo to persist, hindering significant improvements in the quality of life and well-being of the poor.
5. Potential & Need for Change: Nizar claims in the video that if given power for three years, he could elevate the poorest members to middle-class status and significantly improve their well-being. He attributes the divide and lack of support to a corrupt, exclusive Centralised system with no accountability, where ultra-rich live in a separate bubble, from the needs and common interest of the poor.
6. Directives (Farmans) from Aga Khan unrestricted : Aga Khan has repeatedly emphasized the need for local communities to be empowered with capacity and resources to manage their own Budgets & development. This has not been implemented by the same group in control for over 30 years. The management of community funds and resources remains centralized, & controlled by a few individuals motivated by self-interest, blocking any attempts to change the status quo.
7. Centralized and Undemocratic Leadership appointments system & culture: The leadership system motivated by self interest is centralized, nepotistic, and undemocratic, lacking inclusivity, pluralism, transparency, and accountability. This entrenched system of control by a select few has widened the poverty gap and divide.
Nizar Daredia in the live Video (link below) says if he is wrong can anyone provide evidence of, Princess Zahra, her uncle Prince Amyn, or her brothers, Prince Rahim, Prince Aly, and Prince Hussein, attending Jamat Khannas and engaging with the poor members of the community, & or visiting their homes to discuss & understand “from them” their needs, concerns, progress, well-being, and quality of life.
Therefore if guidance (Farmans) of the Imam, H H the Aga Khan (including the full constitution, pluralism, and inclusion), is embraced, shared, and implemented, then meaningful & sustained change is likely and foreseeable in the near future. The actions of the Noorani family will be instrumental in achieving the vital, and urgently needed change

Princess Zahra Aga Khan’s Visit to India coming week
1. Introduction: The Ismaili community in India is delighted that Princess Zahra Aga Khan, accompanied by her daughter, is visiting India for Jamati work with the Ismaili community and to oversee various projects of the community institutions.
2. Priority of Pluralism: As a member of the Board of Governors of the Global Centre for Pluralism, her visit underscores the importance of pluralism, inclusion, and diversity within our community. In alignment with the core mandate of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and all entities of the Jamat, her involvement and engagement with AKF and the community, especially the youth, will prioritize pluralism to overcome challenges and achieve the common goals of the community.
3. Challenges and Goals: According to Hazar Imam, pluralism, inclusion, and diversity are vital prerequisites for achieving inclusive leadership and best practices within AKF and for all the Jamat. Over the past 30 years, these vital priorities have faced centralized resistance and rejection. Overcoming these hurdles is crucial. Princess Zahra, along with her three brothers and uncle, can be instrumental in implementing pluralism and all Farmans to achieve the goals given by His Highness the Aga Khan, the Imam of the Time.
4. Future Changes: Will there now be a change in seeking, sharing, and implementing the goal of pluralism, including enabling the Jamat locally to manage their needs and improve the wellbeing and quality of life for all members and their neighborhoods?
5. Roles and Responsibilities Hazar Imam has stated that members of his family are now taking on further roles and responsibilities. Princess Zahra, her uncle Prince Amyn, and her three brothers, Prince Rahim, Prince Aly, and Prince Hussein, are not only family of the Imam but also spiritual brothers and sisters of all members of the Ismaili community. They therefore share the same responsibilities and obligations as every other member of the community. Given their higher familial status and direct access to His Highness, who has also appointed them as his personal representatives, they have an additional and more significant role in the “one Jamat” of which they are also members. They should connect with the community grassroots, meet all sections of the community, understand their concerns and needs, and ensure the community’s entities are focusing on pluralism, inclusion, and best practices in achieving the goals. Mistakes should be acknowledged and corrected according to the directions of His Highness the Aga Khan. They should also be proactive participants in implementing the common goals of the community and its institutions, which are governed under the Ismaili Constitution for the benefit and governance of the Ismaili community.
6. Commitment to embracing Pluralism: Since His Highness the Aga Khan has repeatedly stated that embracing and actualizing pluralism within every member of the community is a vital prerequisite to our very existence, every board member of the Global Centre for Pluralism and all community entities should by now have fully embraced pluralism, inclusion, and best practices in responding and making decisions. If so, they will want to share a positive response to this letter too. These responses would then also be inclusive, transparent, accountable, and in the common interest. I expect my constructive feedback, appeal, and call for action will result in a positive response. If there is no response, it clearly shows pluralism still faces resistance, which His Highness has noted, and at worst, it has been rejected. In such a case, there is a need to review the future management and strategies of the Global Centre for Pluralism. I hope this is not the case. I hope for a positive response to the many feedbacks, especially from members of the Board of the Global Centre for Pluralism, community institutions, and from Princess Zahra, her three brothers, Princes Rahim, Hussein, and Aly Mohammad, and her uncle Prince Amyn.

Last week, Princess Zahra and her daughter Sara completed a five-day working visit to India, where, accompanied by members of the Aga Khan Schools board, they observed the progress of education projects in Telangana, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
In Hyderabad, Telangana, Princess Zahra visited the two campuses of the Diamond Jubilee High School, the Aga Khan Hostel in Kompally, and the Aga Khan Academy. They also spent time at the Garden Society in Kompally, which provides housing to hundreds of families, and includes a Jamatkhana, a Learning Resource Centre (LRC) for elder members of the Jamat, a Medical Centre, and a Learning Centre that hosts after-school programmes run by the Aga Khan Education Board.
While in Gujarat, Princess Zahra visited a pre-school in Keshod, the Malia Hatina Hostel and the Girnar School, and the Aga Khan School in Chitravad. There, she also inaugurated the 16th LRC in the country, which offers a recreational and learning space for senior citizens of the Jamat, thus helping to enhance their quality of life.
The breadth and diversity of the educational institutions they visited underscores the Imamat’s commitment to ensuring widespread access to high-quality education, in order to help nurture and develop future leaders of India.
AKDN has a long and rich history in India, with strong educational institutions dating back to 1905, when the first Aga Khan school was founded in Mundra. In the 1940s, during the Diamond Jubilee of Mawlana Sultan Mahomed Shah, several more schools were established across South Asia.
The network of schools has continued to grow under the guidance of Mawlana Hazar Imam. Today, in India, AKDN operates eight state and national curriculum schools, 19 pre-schools, one hostel and one Academy, which together serve more than 8,000 students from different backgrounds.
In Mumbai, visits were arranged to the Diamond Jubilee High School for Girls and the coeducational Diamond Jubilee High School. While in Mumbai, Princess Zahra also visited the Aga Hall Estate to review progress on construction. Aga Hall is a revitalisation project rooted in legacy. Originally established by Mawlana Hasan Ali Shah in the 1860s, the site was also a home to Mawlana Ali Shah and Mawlana Sultan Mahomed Shah. Over the years, it has witnessed Mumbai’s evolution into a thriving international hub, while symbolising the city's historic roots.
Alongside a new, enlarged Jamatkhana, a new international-standard school, and a new hospital, the Aga Hall Estate’s two residential towers will offer a convenient and holistic lifestyle, with lush gardens that will cover more than half of the site’s total area, creating a green oasis in the densely urbanised area. The aim is to enhance the quality of life for current and prospective residents and provide a safe, community-oriented living experience.
At an institutional dinner in Mumbai, President Asif Porbanderwala of the Ismaili Council for India welcomed Princess Zahra and her daughter Sara, and conveyed the Jamat’s joy and gratitude for their visit to the country. He also thanked Princess Zahra for her tireless efforts and commitment for more than 30 years:
“You have been a pillar in supporting the vision of our Imam, and more importantly, leading by example,” he said.
The Ismaili Council screened a short film and presented a photo gallery recounting Princess Zahra’s previous visits to India to honour her contributions and pay tribute to her many years of work.
Princess Zahra expressed her thanks to the many volunteers who made the visit possible, and commended the artists who performed at the dinner. “It’s my honour and my pleasure to be here with all of you,” she said. Princess Zahra also spoke about the visit, the progress of AKDN in India, and Mawlana Hazar Imam’s vision.
“I think we all follow the same vision,” she added. “We are all inspired by that vision, we’re all trying to live up to that vision and contribute to it as best we can. And it’s not a question of choice. It’s a question of vocation, and calling, and duty.”

In Mumbai, visits were arranged to the Diamond Jubilee High School for Girls and the coeducational Diamond Jubilee High School. While in Mumbai, Princess Zahra also visited the Aga Hall Estate to review progress on construction. Aga Hall is a revitalisation project rooted in legacy. Originally established by Mawlana Hasan Ali Shah in the 1860s, the site was also a home to Mawlana Ali Shah and Mawlana Sultan Mahomed Shah. Over the years, it has witnessed Mumbai’s evolution into a thriving international hub, while symbolising the city's historic roots.
Alongside a new, enlarged Jamatkhana, a new international-standard school, and a new hospital, the Aga Hall Estate’s two residential towers will offer a convenient and holistic lifestyle, with lush gardens that will cover more than half of the site’s total area, creating a green oasis in the densely urbanised area. The aim is to enhance the quality of life for current and prospective residents and provide a safe, community-oriented living experience.
At an institutional dinner in Mumbai, President Asif Porbanderwala of the Ismaili Council for India welcomed Princess Zahra and her daughter Sara, and conveyed the Jamat’s joy and gratitude for their visit to the country. He also thanked Princess Zahra for her tireless efforts and commitment for more than 30 years:
“You have been a pillar in supporting the vision of our Imam, and more importantly, leading by example,” he said.
The Ismaili Council screened a short film and presented a photo gallery recounting Princess Zahra’s previous visits to India to honour her contributions and pay tribute to her many years of work.
Princess Zahra expressed her thanks to the many volunteers who made the visit possible, and commended the artists who performed at the dinner. “It’s my honour and my pleasure to be here with all of you,” she said. Princess Zahra also spoke about the visit, the progress of AKDN in India, and Mawlana Hazar Imam’s vision.
“I think we all follow the same vision,” she added. “We are all inspired by that vision, we’re all trying to live up to that vision and contribute to it as best we can. And it’s not a question of choice. It’s a question of vocation, and calling, and duty.”
