There are videos circulating showing Hazar Imam in ceremonial robe and black hat on, walking among multitudes of his murids reciting salwaats. Looks like a Darbar then a didar! I don't have the ability to post here.

I have always wondered why is it that people in Central Asia and northern Pakistan get darbars and never mulaqat

I am just speculating that it was a Darbar based on Hazar Imam's appearance in his ceremonial robes, not confirmed yet! However if it is indeed a Darbar it could be because such events are not frequent due to the logistics or in this moment it is a great historical occasion of special significance for the Jamat meeting the 50th Imam for the first time.

Key points from the Farman of Our beloved MHI at Passu:

• Our beloved MHI reminded the Jamat that he is their Imam, and matters relating to faith, guidance and direction will come through him and his institutions.

• He emphasized that although institutions may not always be perfect, the Jamat should respect them, remain connected with them, and work through them.

• MHI repeatedly stressed the importance of unity within families, among brothers and sisters, extended families, and the wider community.

• He said that when families and communities remain united, they become stronger and happier — and the Imam will also be happy.

• MHI gave special guidance to the youth, saying that the world is passing through challenging times and young people must come forward with confidence and responsibility.

• He advised the youth to think globally, understand the changing world, and prepare themselves for the future.

• He specifically emphasized the importance of learning and improving English, as it connects young people with the wider world.

• MHI encouraged the youth to pursue education not merely for degrees, but to understand life, improve themselves, and better understand global realities.

• He reminded the Jamat that Allah’s guidance is always available, especially in moments of worry, difficulty or uncertainty.

• He encouraged everyone to seek strength and peace through prayer, remembrance of Allah, and faith.

• MHI repeatedly underlined that unity, faith, education, respect for institutions, and service to one another are essential for the happiness and progress of the Jamat.

Yes the didar in Passu was just amazing. Everything was in English except the Qasedas. One hour delay because of terrible weather in Gilgit this morning. Because it was in English it was the shortest speech ever. Sorry the location was other worldly. In a valley surrounded by mountains all around. And Hazar Imam came by helicopter. And best behaved 100,000 persons I have ever had the pleasure to spend a delightful few hours with. The Deedar nearly got cancelled this morning because of torrential rain all night and into the early hours. The carpets were soaked but everyone adjusted. As usual there were a lot of ithna Ashariyyahs at the deedar. They have to register same as the Ismailis. Shah Karim use to greet them with Salaam Alakhum and address them with a couple of sentences. Shah Rahim just said he was extremely happy that the communities live in harmony. So much so that they volunteer to manage the traffic in some areas. And on returning from the deedar they stand on the road cheering every passing car shouting deedar mubarak. And any non ismaili shop is shuttered for the deedar between Karimabad and Passu. Few more things about the deedar. Hunza valley is like a rift valley with a lot of villages all over the place. All villages are shut down 3 to 4 days before the deedar. The murids are than transported free of charge in cars, vans, lorries and buses to areas around the deedar where local families house them. The transportation is mind boggling. Ismailis and non Ismailis stop their daily business and volunteer their time their cars, vans, lorries and buses and petrol and bring them to the area. All the volunteers do multiple trips day and night. On the day of the deedar the murids have to be taken to the remote location of the deedar. Again Ismailis and non Ismailis start at 2am to 12 noon when the gates are shut. Then when the deedar finishes the reverse journeys are made. One army captain in Hazar Imam's protection team found out the logistics of handling 100,000 without any incident and he was gobsmacked. A petrol and diesel lorry just drives up and down the highway just in case someone runs out of fuel. There was a tyre pressure unit halfway to the deedar location. And mechanics are on call in case of a breakdown. And because the area is prone to land slides 2 earth movers were on call and they were needed. The Army Captain said any other Pakistani community there would be riots and chaos. One non Ismaili from a small town contributed 70 vans by itself. And don't forget the deedar location itself where volunteers worked day and nights for weeks in extremely cold and wet weather. No he did not. He was in his usual suit but he made one concession. He wore a furry hat because it is a tradition here.

Ya Ali Madad
Sharing as received

Sharing this based on a conversation i had with a local:
Read 1min 5sec

There is something deeply moving about what is happening in the northern areas of Pakistan at this moment.
My family is preparing for Deedar in the Passu region, where a Grand Darbar Mubarak is being held.
Jamat from many small villages are journeying together toward the nearby village where the Deedargah and Darbar Pandal have been lovingly prepared.

Families have already begun leaving a day earlier so they may arrive in time for this blessed occasion.
My mother shared that two or three families are being accommodated together in the homes of local Ismaili Jamati members. The travelling Jamat has been informed that the host Jamat will lovingly take care of food and accommodation, while requesting everyone to carry some perishable items and to show special care and respect to elders and children

The entire atmosphere from the preparations to the Deedargah itself, feels like a glimpse of Jannah (heaven) on earth.
Jamatkhanas have decorated beautiful entrance gates representing their Jamats, adorned with messages from Qasidas and Qur'anic ayas. Every heart seems to be beating with one emotion, one anticipation, one love.

Deedar Mubarak in the northern areas of Pakistan is not just a Deedar. It is unique in its own sense, not only for the Ismaili Jamat but also for many sister communities around them.
There is a happiness that spreads beyond boundaries. Volunteers step forward without hesitation, standing in rain and cold, picking up rocks one by one, clearing landslides and roads so murids can safely reach the Deedargah.

People from other communities who have benefited from the Imam's institutions also feel a sense of joy and pride because they too see happiness arriving in their region.

*There is something incredibly beautiful and humbling about the devotion of the northern Jamat. Their love carries the memory of hardships, struggles, sorrows and sacrifices of generations before them. Remembering their departed ruhani family members who are no longer present to witness this blessed Mubarak occasion, many shed tears as they await the arrival of Nur.
Their concern is often not whether they will touch the Imam or wave at the Imam Their greatest desire is simply to preserve and carry their love and devotion deeply in their hearts There is something in that sincerity from which all of us can learn.

I can only wish I were there physically, but my heart is at peace knowing that my mother will receive the Deedar Mubarak of the Imam of the Time. *She has been sending voice messages filled with emotion and deep sentiments and hearing them touches the heart in ways words cannot describe.

The northern Jamat flourished under Mawlana Shah Karim's Nurani chhatrchhaya, under His unconditional love, care and guidance. That is a blessing we can never forget for as long as we breathe. Yet the continuity of Imamat in Imam-e-Zaman remains an eternal mercy and a living grace. His karam and nawazish upon us are beyond measure * Even if we were given many lifetimes, perhaps even then we would never be able to fully express our shukrana.

> end of message

Padhramni Mulaqat
Deedar Darbar Mubarak
Our prayers are with you, always, Aamin ilahiAamin

Please stay healthy and connected Ya Ali Madad

GILGIT: His Highness Prince Rahim Al Hussaini Aga Khan V, the 50th spiritual leader of the Ismaili community, has urged followers to strengthen unity, pursue education and remain steadfast in faith.

Addressing a large gathering of community members in Passu area of Hunza on Friday, Prince Rahim emphasised the importance of harmony within families and society, stating that strong and united families form the foundation of a prosperous and happy community.

“When families and communities remain united, they become stronger and happier — and the Imam will also be happy,” he told the gathering.

Addressing the youth in particular, Prince Rahim acknowledged the challenges facing the modern world and encouraged young people to prepare themselves for the future with confidence, awareness and responsibility.

He urged them to think globally and understand the rapidly changing realities of the world.

Highlighting the significance of education, the spiritual leader advised young people to seek education not only for academic qualifications, but also for personal growth, understanding life and gaining awareness of global developments. At the same time, he stressed the importance of learning English as a means of connecting with the wider global community.

He reminded his followers that Allah’s guidance is always present, especially during times of difficulty and uncertainty. He encouraged community members to seek peace, strength and comfort through prayer, remembrance of Allah and faith.

Concluding his address, Prince Rahim underscored that unity, faith, education, respect for institutions and service to humanity are essential for the happiness, progress and well-being of the community.

The gathering in Passu formed part of Prince Rahim Aga Khan’s maiden official visit to Pakistan since assuming the mantle of Imamat last year.

He reached Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday, two days after landing in Islamabad. He was welcomed by caretaker CM retired Justice Yar Muhammad and senior civil and military officials at the airport in Gilgit.

The Deedar in Passu was truly something unforgettable. The entire setting felt almost beyond words — a beautiful valley surrounded by majestic mountains in every direction, with clouds still hanging low after torrential rain throughout the night and early morning. At one point there was even concern that the Deedar might be cancelled because the carpets were completely soaked, yet everyone adjusted quietly and gracefully.

Hazar Imam arrived by helicopter, wearing his usual elegant suit, but with one lovely local touch — a traditional furry hat in honour of the region. Everything was in English except the qasidas, and perhaps because of that, it ended up being one of the shortest speeches ever.

But what touched me most was not only the breathtaking scenery — it was the spirit of the people. Nearly 100,000 murids gathered with such patience, discipline, warmth, and respect. Honestly, it was one of the most peaceful and beautifully behaved gatherings I have ever had the privilege to witness.

The logistics behind it all were simply incredible. Villages throughout Hunza shut down days beforehand. Ismailis and non-Ismailis alike volunteered their cars, vans, buses, lorries, fuel, homes, and time. Families welcomed strangers into their homes with kindness and generosity. Volunteers drove day and night transporting murids from village to village and then onward to the remote Deedar location, starting as early as 2am.

Along the highway there were fuel trucks driving up and down in case anyone ran out of petrol, tyre pressure stations set up midway, mechanics on standby, and even earth movers prepared for landslides — which were actually needed. One army captain from Hazar Imam’s protection team said he was amazed that an event of this size could be managed with such calmness and without chaos or incident.

One of the most beautiful parts was the harmony between communities. Many Ithna Ashariyyahs attended the Deedar as well, registering like everyone else. Hazar Imam expressed how happy he was to see communities living together in peace and mutual respect. Non-Ismaili volunteers helped manage traffic, shops between Karimabad and Passu closed out of respect for the occasion, and people stood along the roadside cheering passing vehicles with joyful cries of “Deedar Mubarak.”

Behind it all were countless volunteers who worked for weeks in freezing rain and difficult conditions preparing the site.

It did not feel like just an event. It felt like witnessing faith, service, humanity, discipline, and unity at their very best.

Despite unusual and unfavourable weather conditions in the region, Mawlana Hazar Imam was able to travel to Gilgit yesterday to begin a series of visits to the Jamat in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral.

Upon arriving in Gilgit, Hazar Imam was received at the airport by the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Justice (Retired) Yar Muhammad, FCNA Commander Major General Syed Imtiaz Hussain, Justice Ali Baig of the Chief Court of Gilgit-Baltistan along with other senior officials of the Gilgit-Baltistan government and administration and a delegation of Jamati leadership.

Hazar Imam then travelled to Passu, a village in the Hunza region, located near the Pakistan-China border. Tens of thousands of Jamati members had gathered at the outdoor venue with much anticipation and emotion. There, Hazar Imam blessed the Jamat with didar.

Ismailis have been present in this part of the world for centuries, and since the time of Mawlana Sultan Mahomed Shah, Imamat institutions have established numerous initiatives to enhance the quality of life of the Jamat in the region, with an emphasis on access to education.

In recent weeks, Jamati members have taken part in a pledge to Read, Move and Plant as an expression of love, gratitude and commitment to their Imam. Inspiring lifelong learning, promoting active living, and encouraging environmental responsibility, close to 200 million minutes of reading, approximately 75 million minutes of movement and over 130 thousand trees have been pledged as part of the campaign.
