Workers restore Afghan heritage

- For millennia, Afghanistan has been a place where the fault lines of history converged, where the cultures of the Indian subcontinent, the Turkic north and Persia met and mingled. A decade ago, this legacy seemed doomed after years of war. Now, a group of Italian art conservators have taught Afghan workers how to glue together pieces of stone salvaged from Kabul's museum and other vandalized historic sites.
