Sun revolves around Earth!!!?

Post by agakhani »

Sun revolves around "EARTH"

In a 2000 Fatwa titled “The Transmitted and Sensory Proofs of the Rotation of the Sun and Stillness of the Earth”, Saudi Arabian Grand Mufti Sheikh Ibn Baaz asserted that the earth was flat and disk-like and that the sun revolved around it. He had insisted that satellite images to the contrary were nothing but a Western conspiracy against the Islamic world

He had insisted that satellite images to the contrary were nothing but a Western conspiracy against the Islamic world
Ibn Baaz was considered by many to be prolific speaker both in public and privately at his mosque. Like his books, his lectures and sermons were numerous and revolved frequently around the situation of the Muslim world. In addition, much of his time was devoted to the lessons he gave after Fajr prayer, teaching during the day, meeting delegates from Muslim countries and sitting with people after Maghrib prayer to provide counseling and advice on personal matters. He also used to invite people after Isha prayer to share a meal with him

Ibn Baaz was among the Muslim scholars who opposed regime change using violence. He called for obedience to the people in power unless they ordered something that went against God.

Sheikh bin-Baaz passed away on May 13, 1999, at the age of 88. So Fatwa issued in his name in 2000 does not make sense. Even if it is true then one should take Fatwa issued on scientific matter by him should be taken with grain of salt.

Here is what Saudi Minister Said when Some Scholars Were Issuing Fatwas On Silly Issues

Saudi Islamic Affairs Minister Saleh Al-Asheikh thinks he has the answer on how to prevent Islamic scholars from issuing fatwas on silly issues. He said that Islamic scholars intending to publish fatwas on contemporary issues should first consult with experts at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs or Dar Al-Ifta (the Saudi fatwa authority) before releasing the mass media. Minister Saleh Al-Asheikh said: “They should not publish fatwas except after consulting with other experts.”
Explaining why fatwas on silly issues must stop, Minister Saleh Al-Asheikh said: “This will give a bad impression about the Kingdom being an Islamic state.”

Why do you think this is a strange Fatwa?
Reason for this Fatwa is given in link you included and I quote;
Leaders of the minority community have termed the move as un-Islamic and equated it with idol-worship, which is prohibited in Islam. They also issued a fatwa in this regard on Tuesday which was also ratified by the Shahar Qazi, Sayyed Mushtaq Ali Nadvi.
There are many sects of Islam and even many Sunnis practice some form of Idolatry like grave and personality worship. This fatwa is reminder for them to stay away from this event.

zznoor,
Why do you think this is a strange Fatwa?
Why do I think this is strange fatwa? answer is very simple; sun posture a yoga practice and it has nothing to do with any religious worship.

In sun posture you have to look towards sun when you uplifts your whole body on your two arms, and you have to raise your head keep looking towards sun, it sure look like you are worshiping sun but it is a just simple posture it has nothing to do with worshiping sun or any one else and I think Muslim leaders think it is against Islamic principal, it is tohid ( they think you worshiping sun) and shirk therefore I think it is strange fatwa.

I do this posture on and off but I am not worshiping sun, it is great posture for your whole body.
