Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan V on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The Prime Minister extended a warm welcome to Prince Rahim Aga Khan V and fondly recalled, in glowing terms, his meeting with the Aga Khan during his visit to Pakistan earlier this year.
The Prime Minister commended Prince Rahim Aga Khan's commitment to sustaining the longstanding friendly and positive relations with Pakistan, and reiterated his resolve to continue close cooperation with him to achieve shared goals of peace, stability, and development.
The Prime Minister appreciated the longstanding services of the Ismaili community, particularly in Pakistan's social and economic development, and highlighted its commendable tradition of service to society and civic engagement.
The Prime Minister also commended the invaluable contributions of institutions affiliated with the A.K. Development Network (AKDN) in promoting financial inclusion, tourism, the preservation of cultural heritage, and economic empowerment through local community involvement. Furthermore, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of fully leveraging the vast potential for further cooperation in these sectors to promote sustainable and inclusive development in Pakistan.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan expressed his gratitude for the Prime Minister's warm sentiments and, in such circumstances when the entire region is engulfed in conflict, paid tribute to the Prime Minister's efforts for regional peace and stability.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the A.K. Development Network (AKDN). He also expressed his desire to continue and expand cooperation in various sectors of human development for the welfare of the people of Pakistan, particularly in health, education, building resilience to the impacts of climate change, and sustainable social and economic development.
