A Conversation Between Sayyed Imam Shah and Bai Budhai

Delivered In 71 Ginans

“Sayyed Imam Shah Ane Bai Budhai No Sanvaad” is a collection 71 ginans. It is a dialogue between Sayyed Imam Shah and Bai Budhai (brother and sister, children of Pir Hasan Kabiruddin). They discuss the practice of faith, the balance between material and spiritual pursuits as well as their childhood and the death of their father Pir Hasan Kabiruddin. The 42nd ginan is attributed to Hajar Beg the servant of Sayyed Imam Shah.

Bai Buddhai Dargah in Uchh Sharif.

The Dargah of Pir Hassan Kabirdin is in Uchh Sharif, a couple of hours drive from Multan. Several members of his family are buried In the same compound. (Also several wives)

On particular Dargah of importance there is that one of Bai Budhai, revered not only by Ismailis but also non Ismailis who sometimes come to visit.

O Sister! King Pehlaj came as Ibrahim Khalillah whose progeny is in Makka and Medina.

O Sister! Hindu at that time and came as a Muslim. He was not a prophet at that time.

Sayyed Imam Shah was the son of Vidur Vyaas the Pir during the time of Lord Krishna. He was called Sukhdev. Bai Budhaai was his sister at that time as well. Lord Krishna was their grandfather.

Ginan 68:

Jirebaai Ame tame be jiv nipanaa,
Vedur-Viaas ghar rahennaa, Jirebaai 1

O Sister! Our souls at that time were in the house of Lord Vidur-Vyaas.

Jirebaai Sukhdevji tyaa(n) maaru(n) naam-j kahiye,
Tame hotaa Vyaas ghar kanyaa, Jirebaai 2

O Sister! My name was Sukhdevji and you were the daughter of Vyaas.

Jirebaai Vedur-Viyaas meraa baap-j kahiye,
Dharam Naath kahiye daadaa, Jirebaai 3

O Sister! Vidur-Vyaas was my father. Grandfather was the Lord of Religion.

Jirebaai Arjann raaj-vanshi jo kahiye,
Paanch Paanddav teni jodde, Jirebaai 4

O Sister! Arjun was the prince and he was together with his brothers known as Panch Pandav.

Jirebaai Shri Karsanji aapnnaa daadaa-j kahiye,
Paanddav ghar prit baandhi, Jirebaai 5

O Sister! Lord Krishna is our grandfather. The Pandavs had a lot of affection for us.

O Sister! They came back to earth in the form of prophets – Zakaria, Yusuf,
Saale.

Jirebaai Nuhu Saabar enu-kaa bhaai-j kahiye,
Aysaa avtaar unu-ne liaa, Jirebaai 15

O Sister! Prophet Nuh and Saabar were their brothers. These are the forms they took.
