Quran Recitations
Surah 1 Al-Fatiha and Surah 55 Ar-Rahman
JollyGul.com has launched a separate Quran Recitations Channel on YouTube in response to requests from our diverse global audience.

The Quran is the central religious text of Islam, believed by Muslims to be a revelation from God to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is organized in 114 chapters (surah), which consist of verses (ayat). In addition to its religious significance, it is widely regarded as the finest work in Arabic literature, and has significantly influenced the Arabic language.

We are presenting Surah 1 Al-Fatiha (The Opening) recited by Mishary Faleh and Surah 55 Ar-Rahman (The Beneficent) recited by Hafiz Othman.

We plan to publish the recitations of all the 114 surahs in the Quran in the next few months with display of text in Arabic along with transliteration and translations in English. Inshallah!

-----------------------------------

Surah Fatiha is called “the opening” for being the first Surah of the Qur’an. It is regarded by most to be an early Meccan surah because its required reading in daily prayer. One of the leading schools believe it was revealed in Medina, however, this is generally less likely.

Some refer to this Surah as Umm al-Kittab meaning “Mother of the Book” because it is believed to contain the entire message of the Qur’an. Narrated Abu Hurairah: that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Al-Hamdulillah is Umm Al-Qur’an and Umm Al-Kitab and the seven oft-repeated.” (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3124)

Among other names, Surah Fatiha is called al-Shifa meaning “the cure” for it’s perceived healing of the body and soul. There is hadith in Bukhari which corroborates this notion.

----------------------------

This Surah lists many blessings and favours that Allah has bestowed upon us. Throughout the Surah the ayat, “Fabi ayyi aalaaa’i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan” is repeated 31 times and translates to “Then which of your Lord’s blessings would you both deny?”

Surah Rahman states the gifts of Allah that have been given to this world, to us. In accordance with a hadith, Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (RA) reported that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “Everything has an adornment, and the adornment of the Qur’an is Surah Ar-Rahman”

Surah 78 An-Naba and Surah 79 An-Nazi’at - Quran Recitations

Post by kmaherali »

Quran Recitations
Surah 78 An-Naba and Surah 79 An-Nazi’at
JollyGul.com has launched a separate Quran Recitations Channel on YouTube.

Today we are presenting Surah 78 An-Naba (“The Tidings”) and Surah 79 An-Nazi’at (“Those Who Pull Out”) recited by Ismail Al Nori.

An-Naba or The News also known as "The Tidings", "The Announcement" is the 78th chapter (surah) of the Quran, with 40 ayat or verses. The first twenty verses discuss the wonders of the worldly creation (the earth, plants, the peace of night, the mountains and rain); the final twenty verses are about the eternal wonders and horrors of the next world, with the sinner being punished starkly opposed to the rewarding of dutiful believers in paradise.

An-Nāziʻāt (“Those Who Pull Out”, in reference to “the angels who tear out the souls of the wicked”) is the 79th sura of the Qur'an, with 46 ayat. It speaks about Allah's angels who take the souls at the time of death. As Allah has power to take away the souls, as He has created the whole universe, He also has the power to resurrect people after their death. The story of Prophet Moses and Pharaoh is mentioned to warn the people about the consequences of arrogant pride which leads to the denial of the truth. The Surah takes its name from the first Ayat, "By those [angels] who extract with violence" .

JollyGul plans to publish the recitations of all the 114 surahs in the Quran in the next few months with display of text in Arabic along with transliteration and translations in English. Inshallah!

Al-Ghashiyah (The Overwhelming) is the 88th Surah of the Quran, with 26 ayat or verses. This Surah refers to three broad-ranging topics. Surah 90 Al-Balad and Surah 91 Ash-Shams - Quran Recitations

Post by kmaherali »

JollyGul.com has launched a separate Quran Recitations Channel on YouTube.

Today we are presenting Surah 90 Al-Balad (The City) and Surah 91 Ash-Shams (The Sun) recited by Ismail Al Nori.

Al-Balad (The City) is the 90th Surah of the Quran, with 20 ayat or verses. This Surah's theme is to explain the true position of man in the world and of the world in relation to man and to tell that God has shown to man both the highways of good and evil, has also provided for him the means to judge and see and follow them, and now it rests upon man's own effort and judgment whether he chooses the path of virtue and reaches felicity or adopts the path of vice and meets with doom.

Ash-Shams (The Sun) is the 91st Surah of the Quran with 15 ayat or verses. The Surah opens with a series of solemn oaths sworn on various astronomical phenomena, the first of which, "by the sun", gives the Surah its name, then on the human soul itself. It then describes the fate of Thamud, a formerly prosperous but now extinct Arab tribe. The Prophet Salih (PBUH) urged them to worship God alone, and commanded them in God's name to preserve a certain she-camel; they disobeyed and continued to reject his message; they killed the she-camel and God destroyed them all except those who had followed Salih. Prophet Salih (PBUH) is an Arab prophet mentioned in the Quran who prophesied to the tribe of Thamud in ancient Arabia, before the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
